Professional Experience
Dan Stack was elected as a Judge in Madison County, IL, in 1986 and served an initial term of almost ten years. He was re-elected in 1997 and continued to serve in that capacity until December 2010. During this tenure he presided over matters including chancery and other miscellaneous remedies, as well as complex civil litigation, including the first “Vioxx” jury trial in the Midwest, environmental and personal injury, professional negligence (legal and medical) and many varieties of class action cases. In addition to handling a full civil docket, he served as Presiding Judge over the Madison County asbestos docket until his retirement. In his judicial capacity, Dan mediated many civil cases and served on the faculty and as a committee chair for the Illinois Judicial Conference where he presented on evidence and the conduct of civil jury trials and was appointed by the Supreme Court to the Committee on Complex Litigation. Recently he has served as a speaker and judicial panel member for CLE conferences on topics relating to asbestos and chemical and environmental litigation. Judge Stack received his formal mediation training from the National Judicial College.
